I grew up in Meridian Idaho where I learned to play volleyball from my dad who played on the BYU men's volleyball team. I played OH with my club for 5 years, winning the Idaho/Utah regional championship my senior year and being named tournament MVP that year. I completed a church service mission in Mexico City for 2 years where I learned Spanish and then completed my undergraduate degree at BYU. I was unable to play for their nationally ranked team and transitioned to sand volleyball where I have competed at the Open level for 7+ years. I have won several tournaments and played against the likes of 2x Olympian Casey Patterson.
I have been an assistant coach for three seasons. Two were for boys club teams and one for a boys high school team. My coaching philosophy is to teach players correct fundamental techniques so that they can analyze and coach themselves throughout their careers. I value competitive drive, hard work, and coachable players.
Outside of volleyball, I am graduating with my Medical Doctorate in May 2024 and then will be continuing my training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with an emphasis on Sports Medicine, Lifestyle medicine, and biomechanics. I am married to an amazing woman who works in computer science. I am dedicated to life-long wellness and healthy habits, many of which I learned playing club volleyball.
Tyler will be working alongside Coach Phoenix Morales in helping our U14 teams achieve all the success they could ask for.
